Financial Inclusion Insights Website and Data Tool

Column Five collaborated with InterMedia, which created the Financial Inclusion Insights (FII) Program in 2013, in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The FII program was created to collect and analyze meaningful data on financial behaviors in eight countries across Africa and Asia.

Since 2013, new batches of data and reports are added each year. This data can be viewed on multiple metrics, across multiple fields, in multiple ways. The website content is stored in CouchCMS while the data visualization portion was written from scratch using PHP's Slim Framework and MySQL. Charts are rendered on the front end with D3 and all the view state logic is achieved with KnockoutJS. I was the only developer on the project.

The Financial Inclusion project was terminated in 2022 and taken offline.
